Case Slide No.:
7
Type:
MARROW CRUSH
Description:
Another trinucleated abnormal plasma cell with a single hof is noted in this field. Below it and to its left is a myeloma cell containing a large abnormal mitotic figure. Three other intact uninucleate myeloma cells are observed
Comment:
A few patients with IgE myeloma have presented with osteoblastic lesions (Rogers JS, Spahr J, Jugde DM et al. IgE myeloma with osteoblastic lesions..Blood 1977; 49:295-9 ) Although relatively few cases of IgE disease have been reported, the incidence of IgE plasma cell leukemia appears unduly high ( 26% versus1-6% of myelomas overall). (IgE myeloma associated with plasma cell leukemia..West NC, Ward R, Smith AM. Postgrad Med J 1983; 59 : 784-5). END OF CASE.
