Ward 168

Case Slide No.:
1
Type:
MARROW CRUSH
Description:
Particle crush of marrow from a 66 year old woman with symptoms and signs of myeloma. Laboratory tests and a bone marrow study confirmed the diagnosis. The myeloma proved to be an IgG lambda variant. See comment.
Comment:
Even at this relatively low power view of the crush smear, bluish intranuclear inclusions are easily discerned in the myeloma cells. The most striking examples are observed towards 2 and 8 o’clock.
Scattered azure granules all over the field have spilled from cells damaged during crushing. This is a common event in some areas of crush preparations.
