MM, SMALL CELL VARIANT : CASE 1 (18) Cont’d. TREPHINE Bx: In another fragment we see a mix of small neoplastic cells, mostly lymphoplasmacytes and lymphocytes. A few larger variants are observed including at least one binucleate plasma cell. See comment.
Comment: 
In one series of patients with t(11;14), 50% of neoplastic cells in marrow smears exhibited a lymphoplasmacytoid appearance. The likelihood of strong cyclin D1 expression in neoplastic cells in this cohort was 95%. (The (11;14) translocation in multiple myeloma. Hoyer JD, Hanson CA, Fonseca R et al.
