Comment: 
Thus, there are no telling cytologic features which might help distinguish this rare entity from other forms of myeloma. Cytologic differences however do help separate IgM myeloma from IgM lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia). [See section on WM]. 
In addition, features such as lytic lesions of bone occur in 90% of patients with IgM myeloma and in only 2-10% of those with WM. Renal disease is common in IgM MM, and considered rare in WM.
